WiFi 8 in use

New: WiFi 8

WiFi 8 is the next generation of WiFi. Just like WiFi 7, WiFi 8 uses all frequency bands and divides your network traffic over them. The difference is the collaboration between your router and the devices that you connect to WiFi, such as your laptop and smartphone. WiFi 8 mainly aims at providing a stable and reliable connection. Even when many devices at the same time use WiFi or when there's a lot of disruption. Check that your devices support WiFi 8 to use all the advantages.

Mesh WiFi explained

FAQ

What's mesh WiFi?

Mesh WiFi is a WiFi system with multiple stations that together form a wireless network. That way, you can ensure better WiFi coverage in your entire house. You only have to use 1 password and your connection doesn't drop out when you're walking through your house.

What's the difference between a WiFi router and a mesh WiFi system?

A regular WiFi router is mostly suitable for improving the WiFi on 1 floor. With mesh WiFi, you spread out the connections over your entire house via multiple stations.

How many mesh WiFi stations do I need?

That depends on the size and layout of your house. The guideline is: 1 or 2 stations for a small apartment, 2 or 3 for a large apartment, 3 or 4 for a townhouse, and 4 or more for a freestanding house.

Which mesh router works with KPN or Ziggo?

Most mesh WiFi systems work with KPN. You have to connect the main station with an Ethernet cable to the KPN modem. Almost every mesh WiFi system that you connect to the Ziggo modem via Ethernet works with Ziggo. If you want, you can set the modem to bridge mode for optimal performance. If you want to completely replace the modem, choose a mesh system with a built-in modem. Make sure it works with the KPN or Ziggo modem and register your connection information with your provider first.

What's the difference between WiFi 8 and WiFi 7?

WiFi 8 divides your devices more smartly over your network. This way, you're less bothered by disruptions and you can use more devices at the same time. Even when you perform demanding online tasks such as downloading and streaming in high quality.

Which devices work with WiFi 8?

Right now, there are no devices that support WiFi 8. This doesn't mean that you can't use a WiFi 8 router at all. Your devices also connect to the highest possible WiFi standard that they support, for example WiFi 7 or WiFi 6E.
